Homewood Public Library Earns National Four Star Rating - The Library Journal Index 2009: The index rates public libraries according to four output measures that indicate public service—circulation per capita, visits per capita, program attendance per capita, and public Internet uses per capita. Out of 7,268 public libraries across the nation only 258 received star ratings. This four star rating follows the three star rating that we received in the last Library Journal survey. Read more ...
Homewood Public Library is a Blue Ribbon Library - State of Alabama 2004: Homewood Public Library earns a Blue Ribbon Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Library Service. The award was presented by the Public Library Division of the Alabama Library Association. Governor Bob Riley also presented HPL with a letter and certificate of recognition  from the governor's office.
Homewood Public Library is voted as Jefferson County's "Favorite Library" in 2002.
Homewood Public Library Earns Three Stars - State of Alabama 2001: The library is awarded the Three Star Certificate of Achievement by meeting so many of the established state standards for libraries as outlined by the Alabama Library Association and the Alabama Library Service.
In previous years, the library was ranked seventh in the state and was awarded the Certificate of Achievement at the two star level.
Daphine Munson wins the JCPLA Library Champion Award 2012: Ms. Munson, who lives outside the city, drives 30 minutes just to volunteer at the Book Store and often covers shifts for others who are sick or on vacation. She is knowledgeable and can be counted on to run day-to-day operations without a hitch. See the photos .
Dorothy Brown is awarded the Library Champion Award - JCPLA 2011: Mrs. Brown has given her time and talents to Homewood Public Library for over twenty-four years. Her dedication to her duties in the Friends Bookstore  has helped make the Homewood Friends group very successful. Annually, the Friends of Homewood Library raise almost $40,000 for the library. Homewood Cycle & Fitness Wins Library Champion Award - JCPLA 2009: General Manager, Faris Malki, and wife, Ellie Jo, accepted the award for Homewood Cycle & Fitness. For the past four years, the cycle shop has donated a bicycle that is awarded to a lucky child who reads at least five books per week during the Summer Reading Program at the library. More ...

Jackie Langlow Wins Library Champion Award - JCPLA 2007: Mrs. Langlow was appointed by the Homewood City Council to serve as the City Council liaison to the Board of the Homewood Public Library and has served in that capacity for eight years. She represents the library in all matters dealing with the Homewood Public Library and the City Council.
Paul Scholl and Julia Potter Win Library Champion Awards - JCPLA 2006: The 2006 Library Champion Award winners were Paul Scholl and Julia Potter. The Award recognizes individuals or organizations that have made significant contributions to libraries and/or librarianship in Jefferson County.
Crown Pontiac and Executive Office Service Win Library Champion Awards - JCPLA 2004: Crown Pontiac of Hoover and Executive Office Service of Homewood were awarded the Library Champion Award 2004 for making significant contributions to libraries. Bob Cruthirds and Crown Pontiac have provided Homewood Public Library with a new car for the parades in Homewood twice a year for the past 10 years. Randy Jones and Executive Office Service have been making donations to HPL for over a decade.
