Revenge Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger

Revenge Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger

Off the bat, I didn’t read The Devil Wears Prada. I did, however, watch the movie several times. Are they alike? I have no idea. Do you need to read the first one before reading this? I really don’t think so.

Revenge Wears Prada follows Andy after her abrupt leaving of Runway magazine. The number one fashion magazine run by the devil herself, Miranda Priestly. After many years of floundering, Andy has finally gotten it together. She has started a new magazine, The Plunge, with her former enemy from Runway. She’s met a great guy who does not replace her first true love, Alex (how’s that for foreshowing), but is a great catch for any girl with an open heart.

Everything is great until the devil or shall I say Miranda Priestly returns. It has been years, but she still invokes great fear in Andy. Although her former enemy to best friend Emily is willing to let bygones be bygones, Andy is not. She knows that there is no way a person as vile as Miranda could ever change. Miranda’s company wants to purchase Andy’s start-up with the caveat that most of the team including Andy stays in place. Emily wants to sell Andy does not. Andy’s dream of a husband, Max, who is a major investor, wants her to sell. Everyone is screaming sell, sell, sell, but Andy has other things to worry about like. . . a baby and the reappearance of Alex. Does she sell? Does she still love Alex? Was she wrong about Miranda? No, no, and no or yes, yes, and yes. Really?! Did you think I was going to answer those questions for you?

For me, it was a take it or leave it read. I think the movie probably does a better job of showing Miranda’s true colors.
