The Iron Druid Chronicles Book 1: Hounded by Kevin Hearne
He looks like a 21-year-old college kid, but Atticus O’Sullivan is actually over two thousand years old. The last of the Druids, Atticus, originally known as Siodhachan Ó Suilaebhàin, has used his connection to the earth’s energy and special herbal concoctions to preserve his immortality and youthful appearance. But his long life comes with a price – he’s always looking over his shoulder for Aengus Óg, one of the old, powerful Celtic gods and the original owner of Fragarach, the magical sword Atticus stole from him hundreds of years ago.
Living in Arizona, far from the oak, ash, and thorn trees that the old gods and fae need to make the journey from Tír na nÓg, the land of eternal youth, to the world of humans, protects Atticus somewhat. So far Aengus Óg has contented himself with sending scouts and assassins to try and retrieve Fragarach – all of which have mysteriously disappeared. But something greater is brewing…something that has even the Morrigan, Celtic Chooser of the Slain and goddess of war, flying to Atticus’ New Age book store to warn him of her dark visions.
This paranormal series has everything a reader could hope for. The creative and original plot is well crafted and engaging. The writing style is fluid and flows easily – I couldn’t put it down! Fans of the Dresden Files, in particular, will enjoy the wit, humor, and magic of this highly entertaining novel.
